Allie's Plate
Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 29, 2026
Allie's Plate ("Allie's Plate," "we," "us") is a meal-planning and nutrition app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, where it is stored, who processes it, and the choices and rights you have. We collect only what is needed to provide the app, and we do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data.
Information we collect
- Account & authentication: your email address and a unique account identifier, used to create and secure your account and sign you in. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and basic profile from Google to authenticate you. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email from Apple (or a private relay email address if you choose to hide your email).
- Profile: optional display name, bio, and profile photo (avatar) that you choose to add.
- Nutrition & meal data: the foods, recipes, meal logs, macro/calorie entries, meal plans, and grocery lists you create or import.
- Body & health metrics: bodyweight and optional body-composition stats (e.g. InBody/DEXA check-in metrics) you record, and any body-scan files you upload.
- Photos & images: photos you submit for analysis — meal photos, nutrition labels, product barcodes, and body-scan images — which are sent to our AI provider to extract nutrition or scan data.
- Household data: if you create or join a household, your membership and the meal plans/recipes shared within that household are visible to other members of that household.
- Apple Health (HealthKit) data: see the dedicated section below.
We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking SDKs, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking. Our iOS app declares no tracking in its App Privacy manifest.
How we use your information
- To provide core app functionality: planning meals, logging nutrition, tracking macros and body metrics, generating grocery lists, and sharing plans within a household.
- To analyze photos you submit (meals, labels, barcodes, scans) using AI in order to extract nutrition and scan information for you.
- To authenticate you, secure your account, and sync your data across your devices.
- To process subscription purchases and manage premium entitlements.
- To send essential account communications (e.g. a sign-up confirmation).
Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your explicit permission, Allie's Plate integrates with Apple Health (HealthKit):
- It can read your bodyweight from Apple Health so your weigh-in history stays in sync.
- It can write the meals you log (dietary energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat) and weights you record back to Apple Health.
Health data read from Apple Health (and the macro data you log) is associated with your account and synced to our backend so your history persists across your devices. We use HealthKit data solely to provide app functionality. We do not use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it or share it with third parties for their own purposes. You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in the iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices, or Privacy & Security > Health.
Where your data is stored & who processes it
We rely on a small set of trusted service providers ("sub-processors") strictly to run the app:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (your account, logs, recipes, plans, profile, body metrics, and uploaded scan files).
- Vercel — application hosting and serverless functions.
- Anthropic — AI processing of photos and text you submit (Claude). Submitted content is sent to Anthropic to return the analysis result.
- Apple — App Store in-app purchases and HealthKit (on iOS).
- Stripe — payment processing for web subscriptions. (Payment card details are handled by the payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.)
- RevenueCat — subscription management for iOS in-app purchases (receives your account identifier and purchase/subscription status; never your health or food data).
- OpenAI — text-to-speech audio for the optional premium cooking-mode voices (receives only the recipe step text being read aloud).
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Apple (Sign in with Apple) — only if you choose to sign in with Apple. Apple shares your name and email with us — or a private relay address if you choose to hide your email, which works exactly the same in the app.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (e.g. sign-up notifications).
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Body-scan files are retained for up to two years. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted as described below.
Your rights & choices
- Access & portability: you can view your data in the app, and request a copy by contacting us.
- Correction: you can edit your profile, logs, plans, and metrics directly in the app.
- Deletion: the app includes an in-app "delete my account" option that permanently removes your account and associated personal data. You may also email us to request deletion.
- HealthKit: you can revoke Apple Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Children's privacy
Allie's Plate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), authenticated access, and row-level access controls so that your data is only accessible to you (and household members you choose to share with). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
International users
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using Allie's Plate you consent to this processing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" above when we do, and material changes will be reflected here.
